Christmas at MEC

As we journey toward Christmas, we invite you to join us for a warm, welcoming season filled with celebration, reflection, community, and joy. Below you’ll find all the events taking place throughout Advent and Christmas at Malvern Evangelical Church. These gatherings are designed for all ages, and newcomers are very welcome.

4Front Theatre Production

30th November 2025 · 4:00 pm

We begin our Christmas celebrations with a special one-day-only performance by 4Front Theatre. This high-energy, family-friendly panto brings together all the fun of a traditional Christmas show with the heart of the nativity story.

Not Gettin Inn a 4Front Theatre production

A Roman census’ worth of guests, an unexpected hotel inn-spector and now a young couple with a baby on the way. It’s all a bit of a squeeze, and there’s certainly no room at the inn! The Nativity story meets Fawlty Towers in this farcical panto - join 4Front Theatre for a show bursting at the seams with slapstick fun, laughter, brilliant songs and a heartfelt message of hope and joy from the heart of the nativity

Expect a lively mix of slapstick comedy, colourful characters, brilliant original songs, and a story bursting with hope and joy. It’s a wonderful opportunity for friends, families, and neighbours to share a memorable start to the season.

It’s FREE! and after the performance, we’ll be serving hot dogs for everyone to enjoy — a great chance to stay for a chat.

Christmas Events

Christmas Service at Howbury House

7th December · 6:30 pm

Each year, members of MEC visit Howbury House, a local retirement home, to share a warm, uplifting service celebrating the birth of Christ. It’s a treasured time of singing, fellowship, and encouragement as we come together with the residents.

Nativity Play

14th December · 4:00 pm

Our annual Nativity Play is a highlight for many families. Children, and Adults!, are warmly encouraged to take part — whether acting, dressing up, or helping tell the story of Jesus’ birth. It’s relaxed, creative, and great fun for kids and adults alike.

Afterwards, everyone is invited to stay for our Christingle Service — a beautiful, symbolic moment that families especially enjoy.

Join us afterwards for refreshments and time together.

Lessons and Carol Service

21st December · 6:30 pm

For many, Christmas wouldn’t feel complete without a traditional service of Lessons and Carols. Through Scripture readings and well-loved carols such as Silent Night and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, we reflect on the timeless story of God’s promise fulfilled in Christ.

Refreshments will be served afterwards — a perfect opportunity to pause and enjoy the season together.

Advent Sunday Services

Sundays at 10:30 am throughout Advent

During Advent — the season of expectation and preparation — our Sunday services help us focus on the profound themes of Hope, Peace, Love, and Joy. Each week we light another candle on our Advent wreath as a visible reminder of God’s light coming into the world.

Our services are warm, reflective, and rooted in Scripture, helping us prepare our hearts for the celebration of Christ’s birth.

Children and young people have their own engaging Advent-themed sessions, making this a meaningful time for the whole family.

Christmas Day Service

25th December · 10:00 am

On Christmas morning we gather for a joyful all-age celebration of Jesus’ birth. This shorter service is full of warmth, carols, and the good news at the heart of Christmas.
